o beginn with an even function is symmetric along the y axis if you fold the plot over along the y axis. so meaning that in one quadrant the function sets itself up in the sme way along the y axis. And when plugging negative numbers into the funtion of the value is the same as that at the corresponding positive value: f(-x) = f(x). also even powers are most likey o be used and thus when using negative number when using even powers it will result in a positive number
as seen on the graph no mater what number is plugged in the function will be reflected on the quadrent the is next to it.
in odd functions the oppisite is shown An odd function is one where the symmetry is one of inversion at the origin. Any point in the top right quadrant maps onto one at the bottom thus proving an odd function f(-x) = -f(x). and commonly uses odd powers
